Due to its several advantages for patients, trans-anal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) has gained more popularity over traditional abdominal surgery. In this advanced technique, in appropriately selected patients, the surgeon performs the procedure entirely through the body’s natural opening, requiring no skin incisions. Unlike traditional surgery where a major portion of large intestine is removed, in TAMIS only the diseased tissue will be removed, leaving the rest of your natural bowel lumen intact to function normally.
