ARMC Honored With Target: BP Gold Award

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) has been recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Medical Association (AMA) for its commitment to improving blood pressure (BP) control rates, earing Gold status recognition as part of the Target: BP initiative. This award honors physician practices and health systems that treat patients with hypertension for their achievements in blood pressure control rates within their patient population. To achieve Gold Status, ARMC established exceptional controlled high BP in at least 70% of their adult patient population.

ARMC’s Comprehensive Stroke Center works to prioritize BP control to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes in their patient population. The award-winning Stroke Center provides a multidisciplinary team approach to stroke care that includes stabilizing and treating acute stroke patients. The center also offers support group services for stroke survivors and their caregivers, and preventive care to reduce the risk of strokes before they occur.

Target: BP is a national initiative formed by the AHA and the AMA as a response to the high prevalence of uncontrolled BP in the United States. The Target: BP initiative works with health care organizations and care teams to implement their evidence-based quality improvement program in order to improve their BP control rates. The Target: BP Recognition Program honors organizations like ARMC that have worked to achieve optimal BP control rates.
