ARMC Serves as Official Medical Provider at 2022 Baker to Vegas Relay

On April 9, the Baker-to-Vegas Challenge Cup Relay, or B2V, took place with participants from a variety of local, regional, and federal law enforcement agencies. Participants ran a 120-mile road relay race through the desert, from Baker, California, to Las Vegas, Nevada.

The annual race covers 20 stages across 120 miles of pavement through the Mojave Desert. Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) was one of several medical providers and was on site to assist the teams throughout the event. ARMC’s participation included stationing staff members at nine first aid stations throughout the course. These ARMC volunteers provided medical support to runners, including but not limited to care for injuries, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and dehydration. ARMC also screened each runner at the finish line to ensure there were no complications.

ARMC emergency room physician Troy Pennington additionally served as the 2022 race’s Medical Director. Baker-to-Vegas began in 1985 and has evolved to become the world’s most prestigious foot race.
