Frequently Asked Questions

Applying to ARMC

Do you have a minimum board score requirement for foreign medical graduates?
No, we take a holistic view at an applicant's application. However, we do value a candidate’s ability to successfully pass their board exams.

Do you have a board score cut off (220/235) step I/II?
No, we do not have a cut off.

Do I need to be a citizen to interview/match into the Internal Medicine Program?
We accept citizens and green card holders. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate J1B Visa holders at this time.

Rotating at ARMC

Can I rotate at ARMC if I come from a school other than SGU/WesternU/CUSM?
We only take medical students whose schools have an affiliation with our hospital. Please speak to the GME office if you have any questions about your school's affiliation with our hospital.

Can I do an observership or shadow a physician in the Internal Medicine department?
We unfortunately do not accept observership or shadowing at this time.

Do I have to rotate at ARMC to match there?
No, you do not. While rotations do help in some cases, we realize that not everyone can rotate with us. As long as you have a well-rounded application that matches our mission, we will consider you.

Interviewing at ARMC

What does the interview day consist of?
On the day of the interview, whether in person or on Zoom, Dr. Arabian will give a detailed presentation on our program and answer any questions. Thereafter, applicants will have two interviews with faculty. While waiting for interviews, applicants will be given the chance to interact with residents and ask any questions they have.

I interviewed over Zoom, and I love ARMC! Can I come in person for a second look
Second looks are offered at the discretion of the Program Director/Associate Program Directors. Please contact our program coordinator Viviana Pizano at 909-580-6343 or pizanov@armc.sbcounty.gov for more information.

Resident Life

Where do residents typically live?
Our residents live all around the hospital at various distances. Most residents live in Rancho Cucamonga and Redlands (within 15 minutes of the hospital). However, we have had some residents commute from as far as Orange County.
